L. Ron Hubbard’s vision for the future of Scientology included utilizing technological advancements across every media platform to reach “planetary dissemination” of Scientology’s religious technology “at the correct orders of magnitude.”

David Miscavige has brought that vision to life by building cutting-edge facilities that redefine capabilities of whole industries, including publishing, film making and audio recording services. The March 2018 launch of the Scientology Network introduced a whole new era for that vision. Mr. Hubbard acknowledged that while the specifics of the unrelenting march of technology were unpredictable, communications would indeed evolve, as would the need to reach an ever-growing community of Scientologists. Mr. Miscavige confronted and overcame that challenge. He has leveraged modern manufacturing and digital communications technology to design and implement infrastructure that now supports Scientology’s religious, secular and humanitarian outreach—on a massive scale.

Mr. Miscavige personally oversaw the redesign and restoration of Scientology Media Productions, the historic motion picture studio and television broadcast facility, to broadly communicate the message of Scientology planetwide.

Originally, Scientology materials were available in five languages, English, French, Spanish, German and Italian, but as the Golden Age of Knowledge unfolded and Scientology expanded worldwide, the demand for materials in more than 50 languages evolved. While the answer was obvious, it seemed out of reach. The Church needed to be able to produce any book, tape, CD or DVD in any language, and on-demand—a process that was beyond then-current limits of the book publishing and other media industries. Undaunted, Mr. Miscavige decided the Church would build its own state-of-the-art facility that would be 100 percent digital.

Today, Bridge Publications, and the International Dissemination and Distribution Center in Los Angeles, California, print, mass-produce and distribute Scientology and humanitarian materials for the Church’s religious and secular programs at previously unthinkable speeds. Bridge Publications and the International Dissemination and Distribution Center have also become industry benchmarks for using print-on-demand technology that can instantly change languages and formats, making efficient “planetary dissemination” possible for the first time. The Dissemination Center’s massive facilities make it possible to fill orders around the clock, and ship them quickly and efficiently anywhere on the planet. Both facilities were designed under Mr. Miscavige’s direction to be operated entirely by Scientology staff.

Most recently, the Church’s newly opened broadcasting and media center in Hollywood—Scientology Media Productions—is helping bring to fruition Mr. Hubbard’s vision. It is the foundation from which the Scientology Network was born, reaching through its own satellite television channel to the public around the world, with the real story of the work and goals of the Scientology religion.
